As per this announcement, Group C and Group D employees will receive an ad hoc bonus of up to ₹3,000. Employees on consolidated pay, special scales, or honorariums, who worked at least 240 days in the financial year 2023-2024, will get ₹1,000.
The bonus will also apply to full-time and part-time workers paid at fixed monthly rates.
A Pongal gift of ₹500 will be provided to pensioners in Groups C and D, family pensioners, and retired village officers and assistants.

The state government has allocated ₹163.81 crore for the bonus and gift scheme.
In a related announcement, Tamil Nadu’s Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan urged the Union government to reschedule the UGC-NET December 2024 exams.
The tests, scheduled from January 3 to 16, 2025, overlap with Pongal celebrations. Minister Chezhiaan emphasised Pongal’s cultural significance and highlighted the state’s declared holidays from January 14 to 16, 2025, for the festival.
Pongal, celebrated with fervor in Tamil Nadu, symbolises the state’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
