KPI Green Energy launched its QIP the day shares hit a record high; stock down 25% since then

Shares of KPI Green Energy are trading with gains of 2% on Thursday, January 2. However, the stock has corrected 25% from its peak of ₹1,118, which it had hit on August 12 last year.

KPI Green Energy shares will also be trading ex-bonus from Friday, January 3. The company had announced the issue of one free share for every two shares held as on the record date.

Between March and September, KPI Green’s retail shareholding (those with authorised share capital of up to ₹2 lakh), has gone up by 1 lakh in absolute terms.

At the end of the March quarter, KPI Green Energy had 1.51 lakh retail shareholders, based on the data available on BSE’s shareholding pattern. At the end of the September quarter, that number has increased to 2.53 lakh.

In percentage terms, retail shareholders now hold 22.58% stake in KPI Green Energy, compared to 20.95% they held at the end of March 2024.

At the same time, the promoter stake has come down from 53.08% in March to 48.77% in September.

KPI Green had launched its Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) to raise ₹1,000 crore on August 12 last year, which is incidentally the day the stock made a record high. The company raised the funds by selling shares to eligible institutions at ₹935 per share, which was a discount to the then current market price.

Floor price for that QIP was fixed at ₹983.24 per share.

Shares of KPI Green are trading below the QIP issue price and the floor price as well.

Last year, KPI Green’s board had approved a stock split, where one share with a face value of ₹10 was divided into two shares of ₹5 each in May this year. The stock traded ex-split in July.

The bonus issue of shares, which will have its record date on Friday, was approved by the board in November.

For the September quarter of financial year 2025, KPI Green’s revenue increased to ₹359.7 crore from ₹215.1 crore during the same quarter last year. Its net profit also doubled to ₹69.8 crore from ₹34.7 crore last year.

Shares of KPI Green are currently trading 1.7% higher at ₹843. The stock had gained 66% in 2024, after a 235% gain in 2023 and 173% gain in 2024. The stock has given positive annual returns every single year since its listing in 2019.
