RuPay Credit Card lounge access

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched tier-based guidelines for exclusive RuPay lounge access. The first of its kind, the RuPay lounge is located at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. It offers premium experiences, including an extensive menu and entertainment options.

From January 2025, the lounge will be accessible only to cardholders holding Platinum, Select, or higher-tier variants.

Eligibility will depend on quarterly spending tracked via the RuPay Benefit Management System (RBMS).

Tier I: Cardholders who spend between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000 will get two complimentary visits per quarter.

Tier II: Spending between ₹50,001 and ₹1 lakh will earn four visits.

Tier III: For those who spend between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh, eight visits are included.

Tier IV: Cardholders who spend above ₹5 lakh per quarter will enjoy unlimited visits.

Each quarter resets the number of visits, allowing cardholders to maximize their lounge access based on their spending habits.

Additionally, NPCI is implementing a data change in authorisation response messages, increasing data length from 19 digits to 30 to accommodate the new benefit.

BOBCARD’s domestic lounge access update

Starting the same date, BOBCARD users will experience a shift in their domestic lounge access policy. The new rules require cardholders to meet a minimum spending threshold in the previous quarter to qualify for complimentary lounge visits.

Eterna, Tiara, Varunah Premium: These cardholders must spend ₹40,000 to qualify for unlimited lounge visits.

Varunah Plus, The Sentinel, Rakshamah, Yoddha: A minimum spend of ₹20,000 will offer between 1 to 3 complimentary visits per quarter, depending on the card type.

New cardholders are exempt from this spending requirement for the first calendar quarter, but the waiver does not apply to card upgrades within the same quarter.

For tracking, BOBCARD users can monitor their quarterly spending through the transaction summary tab on the official BOBCARD portal or mobile app.

In addition to these updates, cardholders will gain access to lounges at major domestic airports such as Agartala, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. The number of visits allowed will vary based on the card type and spending criteria met.
