Madhuri Dixit to Kamal Haasan, celebs pay tribute to Ex-PM Dr Manmohan Singh

Dr Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India, died on Thursday night at the age of 92, plunging the nation into mourning. Joining in the line of tributes and condolences, Bollywood celebrities described Singh’s passing as a loss to the nation, further hailing his leadership and contribution. Celebrities like Madhuri Dixit, Swara Bhasker, Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and many others came forward to share heartfelt tributes to the legendary leader.

Actress Madhuri Dixit shared an emotional note in the memory of the former PM. “A remarkable leader and an even more remarkable human being. My deepest condolences to his family and countless loved ones,” a part of her post read.

Swara Bhasker shared an old picture with Singh with a message, explaining how his demise felt like the end of an era. “Farewell, Dr Singh. You gave India more than you got credit for,” she wrote.

Kapil Sharma also took to X and shared a picture from his meeting with the late leader. In his heartfelt tribute, Kapil described Singh as an architect of India’s economic reforms and a symbol of integrity and humility. “His wisdom, dedication, and vision transformed our nation. Rest in peace, Dr Singh. Your contributions will never be forgotten,” he added.

Sunny Deol expressed feeling deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Manmohan Singh, who he described as a visionary leader for playing a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic liberalisation.

Manoj Bajpayee added, “A statesman whose contributions in every aspect of our nation’s growth will always be remembered.”

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh paid his tributes by sharing a picture of the former PM on his Instagram stories and captioned it with, “Oh Waheguru.”

Many other Bollywood celebs such as Nimrat Kaur, Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, and Randeep Hooda also extended their homage through social media posts. Condolences also came in from the south industry with stars like Thalapathy Vijay, Kamal Haasan, and Chiranjeevi penning their thoughts on social media.

With a lengthy post on his X handle, Haasan highlighted Singh‘s legacy and work, further describing India’s loss of an “eminent statesman and scholar.”

Chiranjeevi shared a picture with the late former PM and upheld his visionary and game-changing contributions to the country as the 13th Prime Minister. Chiranjeevi also mentioned serving alongside Singh during his tenure.

Thalapathy Vijay, who recently ventured into politics, wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. #ManmohanSingh. He led India with immense wisdom and integrity, who spoke less but did more.”

Dr Singh‘s last rites will be performed with full state honours on Saturday, December 28, near Raj Ghat. His mortal remains have been brought to his residence in Delhi and will be taken to the AICC headquarters tomorrow.
