Goa’s beaches are packed as tourists arrive for New Year’s Eve parties

Goa’s beaches are attracting large number of tourists for New Year festivities, with celebrations picking up momentum after Christmas along the coastal stretch of North Goa. Revellers from across India, as well as foreign visitors, are flocking to the state. Goa’s Tourism Minister, Rohan Khaunte, confirmed that four-star and five-star hotels are fully booked, indicating a significant influx of high-spending tourists, PTI reported

The beaches of Calangute, Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, and Mandrem are among the most popular spots in North Goa, drawing visitors in droves. Tourists often come to experience the surf and sand, while those seeking adventure indulge in parasailing and jet-skiing.

As evening falls, many groups head to hotels to take in Goa’s renowned nightlife. With the New Year fast approaching, the excitement is palpable, and many are eagerly anticipating grand celebrations along the beach.

“I’ve been coming here for the last seven years. We arrive before Christmas and stay until after the New Year celebrations,” said Rajaram Mane, a tourist from Satara in neighbouring Maharashtra.

He added that the vibrant atmosphere in Goa during this time makes it an ideal destination to party.

Khaunte remarked that the impressive number of tourists is a testament to the failure of negative campaigns targeting Goa’s tourism.

“The kind of ambience you get in Goa is unique,” he said, noting that the Tourism department has ensured that tourists have access to all necessary facilities.

He mentioned that beach shacks were set up ahead of the arrival of chartered flights. “New international destinations are now connected to Goa via chartered flights, bringing in even more foreign tourists this time,” he added.

Goa’s Director General of Police, Alok Kumar, assured that sufficient security measures are in place. “Police personnel are deployed at all prominent locations, and senior officers are overseeing the arrangements,” he confirmed.
