The 31-year-old has completed 200 wickets in Tests at an average of 19.56. With this he has become the bowler with lowest average with minimum of 200 Test wickets. The previous record was held by former West Indies pacer Malcom Marshal who had the average of 20.94. Bowling average is calculated by dividing the runs conceded by the wickets picked by a bowler.

The fast bowler is also the fourth-fastest to 200 Test wickets by balls bowled. Only Pakistan’s Waqar Younis (7725 deliveries), South African duo of Dale Steyn (7848 deliveries) and Kagiso Rabada (8154 deliveries) are ahead of the Indian.
Bumrah is also the leading wicket taker in Tests in 2024. The Indian pace spearhead has claimed 70 wickets in 13 Tests this year. Twenty nine of the 70 wickets have come in the current Border-Gavaskar series.
Widely regarded as the best all-format bowler of this generation, Bumrah also picked 15 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and was adjudged the Player of the Series and played a vital role in India’s winning campaign.
