Marcos calls on Filipinos to support MMFF 2024: ‘Tangkilikin po natin ang kwentong Pilipino’

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos calls on Filipinos to support the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which kicked off on Christmas Day, December 25.

In a statement on Thursday, Marcos greeted Filipinos a happy holidays, and said the stories of the Filipino people will take center stage.

“Dahil ito sa espesyal na selebrasyon na ika-50 taon ng Metro Manila Film Festival na bahagi na ng ating buhay at kultura bilang Pilipino,” he said.

“Ang mga magagandang pelikulang kalahok ngayon ng Golden Year ng MMFF ay siguradong magbibigay ng gintong saya at mag-iiwan ng mga ginintuang aral,” he added.

He also urged for movie-goers to bring their whole family and the barkada to cinemas to watch the 10 MMFF films.

“Tangkilikin po natin ang kwentong Pilipino. Suportahan po natin ang Metro Manila Film Festival 2024,” he said. “Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino! Happy 50 years, MMFF!”

MMFF 2024 runs from December 25 to January 7.

The 10 films part of the festival are: “Green Bones,” starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, “And the Breadwinner Is…” starring Vice Ganda and Eugene Domingo, “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital” starring Jane de Leon and Enrique Gil, “Himala: Isang Musikal” starring Aicelle Santos and Bituin Escalante, “The Kingdom” starring Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual, “My Future You” starring Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin, “Uninvited” starring Vilma Santos, Nadine Lustre, and Aga Muhlach “Topakk” starring Arjo Atayde and Julia Montes, “Hold Me Close” starring Carlo Aquino and Julia Barretto, and “Espantaho” starring Judy Ann Santos and Lorna Tolentino. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
