Pawar assumed charge of the Finance, Planning, and Excise Departments in Mantralaya, the state secretariat.
He chaired a meeting with officials and directed them to deliver results by streamlining and improving the tax collection and revenue generation process.
Pawar reviewed pending schemes, revenue scenario, and fund requirements. He asked officials to frame schemes ensuring the welfare of farmers and the common man.
A statement issued by Pawar’s office stated that he directed officials to act sternly against tax evaders.
The meeting focused on increasing state revenue and industrial investment, developing agriculture, and generating employment.
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde seems to be the No. 2 the more distinguished of the two Deputy Chief Ministers in the Mahayuti coalition. Upon immense convincing Shinde has managed to acquire the lion’s share of heavy weight portfolios like the Urban Development, Housing, Industries, Public Health, Water and School Education, among other high profile portfolio.

The most prominent of them all is the Urban Development Portfolio, giving Shinde the power and authority over major infrastructure and housing agencies in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and other cities of the state MMRDA, CIDCO and MSRDC.
Apart from Shinde, 11 other Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) members took oath as ministers in the newly elected Maharashtra government last week. Shinde has claimed back many of the prominent ministries, while Uday Samant, a well-known figure in the Shinde led Shiv Sena, was given industries and Marathi language ministries.
Other important portfolios like the Public Health & Family Welfare and School Education have been assigned to Sena ministers Prakash Abitkar and Dada Bhuse. Transport ministry has been assigned to Bharat Gogawale, Water Supply and Sanitation to Gulabrao Patil, Soil & Water Conservation to Sanjay Rathod, Tourism, Mining, Ex-Servicemen Welfare to Shambhuraj Desai and Social Justice to Sanjay Shirsat.
