is visiting Kuwait at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. During his visit, Modi will meet Kuwait’s top leadership, including the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These meetings are expected to strengthen bilateral ties in multiple sectors like trade, investment, energy, culture and community relations.
He’ll also attend the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup football tournament and address the Indian community at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex at the ‘Hala Modi’ event. “This evening, I will be interacting with the Indian community and will also attend the inauguration ceremony of the Arabian Gulf Cup,” PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister added that this visit will further strengthen and reinforce the special ties and bonds of friendship between the people of the two countries.
This visit is expected to ‘open a new chapter’ in India-Kuwait relations, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). While addressing the special briefing on the visit, MEA Secretary (CPV and OIA), Arun Kumar Chatterjee gave a brief context and highlighted the strong relationship between the countries.
“It will not only consolidate the partnership in existing spheres but also unveil new avenues for future cooperation, reinforce our shared values and build a more stronger and dynamic partnership for the future,” Chatterjee said.
PM Modi’s visit is also expected to boost ties between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), currently chaired by Kuwait.
India has strong trade ties with other GCC member nations like the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar.
