The agreement was formalised during the “Bihar Business Connect 2024” Global Investors’ Summit held in Patna on December 20, 2024.
The MoU was exchanged by Alok Ranjan Ghosh, Director (Industries), Government of Bihar, and Bimal Gopalachari, Additional GM (Business Development), NGEL, in the presence of Bihar Industries Minister Nitish Mishra and other senior officials.

The partnership aims to develop ground-mounted and floating solar installations, battery energy storage systems, and green hydrogen mobility initiatives in Bihar.
“The MoU outlines a framework for significant investments in Bihar to establish renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted and floating solar installations, battery energy storage systems, and Green hydrogen mobility initiatives, etc.” NTPC Green Energy said in a regulatory filing.
The state government will assist by facilitating permissions, registrations, approvals, and clearances to ensure smooth project implementation.
NTPC Green Energy is the largest renewable energy public sector enterprise (excluding hydro energy) in terms of operating capacity as of September 24 and power generation as of March 2024.

The company’s renewable energy portfolio includes both solar and wind power assets with a presence across multiple locations in more than 6 states which helps in mitigating the risk of location-specific generation variability.
As of September 2024, NTPC Green’s operational capacity stood at 3,220 MW of solar projects and 100 MW of wind projects across 6 states with an average Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) period of 25 years. Further, it has 13,576 MW of contracted & awarded projects and capacity under pipeline of 9,175 MW as of September 2024.
Shares of NTPC Green Energy Ltd ended at ₹132.05, down by ₹2.75, or 2.04% on the BSE.
