India’s no.1 Arjun Erigaisi pleads US Embassy to issue him visa in order to travel to New York

India’s highest rated chess player Arjun Erigaisi was forced to take to social media platform X in order to plead the US Embassy in India to issue him a visa in order to travel to New York.

21-year-old Erigaisi will soon be seen in action at the World Rapid & Blitz Championship. The championship will be held in New York from December 26 to December 31. 

Erigaisi on Friday posted on X:

Erigaisi also tagged Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Sports Minister, the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and All India Chess Federation in his post.

According to a PTI report around 300 chess players, including the world’s top-rated player and former world champion in classical chess, Magnus Carlsen, and three former World Championship challengers, Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Boris Gelfand, among others will be in action in the championship.
