Mikee Quintos shows Royce Cabrera her late grandmother’s ‘green bones’

Mikee Quintos showed to Royce Cabrera her late grandmother’s “green bones” on Friday’s episode of “Lutong Bahay.”

Mikee and Kuya Dudut visited the Sparke star and his lola, Mama Susan, for the show where they cooked paksiw sa dilaw and got to talk about Royce’s upcoming movie, “Green Bones.”

The film is GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures’ official entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.

During the episode, Mikee told Royce that her own grandmother is also with them. She then showed her necklace, which had a pendant that contained pieces of her lola’s green-colored bones.

She asked the actor if he’s ever seen green bones in real life, to which he answered no.

“Ito ang green bones. Ang green bones nakukuha sa mga cremated, totoong sa mga buto ng na-cremate nating mga loved ones,” said Mikee.

“Sabi nila pag may nahanap daw na green bones sa katawan ng isang tao, nabuhay daw ng mabait ‘yung taong ‘yun. Naging mabuti sila sa ibang tao.”

In Chinese belief, green bones found after cremation symbolize a life lived with kindness and goodness.

Mikee added that they found three pieces of green bones after her grandmother was cremated.

In the episode, Royce also shared about his close relationship with his own grandmother, Mama Susan, who stood as his guardian growing up along with his grandfather whenever his own mom and dad weren’t available.

Mama Susan, for her part, said that Royce being loving to her is what she is most proud of.

“Mapagmahal sa akin, malambing siya, lagi niya akong [sinasabihan], ‘Ma anong gusto mo?'” she shared.

Royce is part of “Green Bones,” which includes a powerhouse cast led by Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid. Other cast members include Michael De Mesa, Mikoy Morales, Sofia Pablo, Alessandra de Rossi, Iza Calzado, and many more.

The film, directed by Zig Dulay, held its premiere night on Friday, which was attended by cast members, GMA Network executives, the production team, and other Kapuso stars.

Green Bones” is based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs, with its screenplay written by Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza. It is produced by GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures.
