Philippine bet Kayla Jean Carter proudly represented the country during Miss Charm 2024’s preliminary show!
Kayla strutted the international stage on Wednesday evening in a two-piece pink swimsuit, an aubergine beaded gown by Mara Chua, and her national costume by Ryan Ablaza Uson.
On Instagram, the Filipino designer shared a closer look into Kayla’s national costume, saying it embodies the pageant’s mission to promote culture, tourism, and education.
The figure-hugging gown with butterfly sleeves has the colors of the Philippine flag and comes with a golden crown by Filipino headpiece designer Louie Gallego.
“Blue reflects the boundless depth of our oceans, the lifeblood that connects our islands to the world, making the Philippines the Pearl of the Orient Seas. Red, the flame of valor, honors the courage and sacrifices of our ancestors, whose unwavering spirit continues to ignite our pursuit of freedom, justice, and progress. Gold, the shield of Kalasag, symbolizes the resilience and strength of the Filipino people, a nation that rises and flourishes in the face of adversity. White, the light of peace, calls us to unity, highlighting the transformative power of education in shaping a brighter, more harmonious future,” Ryan said.
Meanwhile, the crown is used as a symbol of dignity, pride, and leadership.
“This costume is a beacon of the Philippines’ enduring charm, cultural pride, and limitless potential. Witness a nation ready to share its story, strength, and beauty with the world, one of unwavering courage, boundless opportunity, and an unshakable belief in its future,” he said.
Kayla was appointed Miss Charm Philippines 2024 in July, after Krishnah Gravidez withdrew from her title.
Kayla also competed at the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, representing the Filipino community in Northern California.
The Miss Charm 2024 coronation night is happening on December 21.
