The Eraserheads members staged a surprise performance at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City to celebrate their alma mater’s wins at the UAAP Season 87.
The iconic OPM band performed at the UP Sunken Garden during the Liyab 2024 event and bonfire. It was a celebration of UP being named champions in men’s basketball, men’s track and field, and women’s badminton.
Based on videos posted by attendees, the Eraserheads performed their top hits like “Magasin,” “Minsan,” “Alapaap,” and “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”
Frontman Ely Buendia also posted photos from their performance on Instagram.
“Celebrating the win at the UP Sunken Garden, more than 2 decades after our last performance as a band there, and at short notice! Victory is sweet, pop-up shows are sweeter!” he wrote.
In August, the Eraserheads members were awarded the UP Gawad Oblation for their contributions to the country as well as the university.
The band previously reunited at the UAAP opening ceremony in September.
The members also had a successful reunion in 2022 at the SMDC Festival Grounds with a one-night-only show titled Huling El Bimbo before embarking on their world tour in 2023.
The band will also have a documentary film titled “Eraserheads: Combo on The Run.”
