We Would All Dread Her Phone Ringing

New Delhi:

Nayanthara’s personal life is under public scrutiny ever since the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale was released. Based on the Jawan actress’ personal and professional lives, the show features cameos by stalwarts like Nagarjuna, Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu and others. On the show, Nagarjuna talked about his first impression about Nayanthara, his co-star of the Telugu film Boss (2006). Nagarjuna also talked about the Dora actor’s “turbulent” relationship back in the day. Recalling the shooting of a song in Switzerland, Nagarjuna said, “I remember we were shooting in Switzerland; I think she was going through a very turbulent time in a relationship. We would all dread her phone ringing. If the phone rang, this girl’s mood would just come down. She would just turn off.”

Nagarjuna also revealed that he asked her why she chose to stick to such a relationship. “I remember asking her, why are you doing this to yourself? You’re an accomplished woman,” said the Criminal actor. However, Nayanthara didn’t reveal the name of the actor she was rumoured to be dating back then.

Nagarjuna was mesmerized by Nayanthara’s captivating personality. “When Nayan walked into the set, of course, she was beautiful, but there was an aura of royalty walking in. The warmth she spoke with, her genuine smile, I had this instant connection with her. This is a person I would like to be friends with,” he recalled on the show.

Addressing the speculation about her dating life, Nayanthara admitted that her first relationship was based on ‘trust rather than love’. “You just believe the other person is also in love with you. More than love, it’s trust. And you give it your all. But people assume a lot of things. It broke me when people assumed stories about it. Till today, no one has asked any of the boys what happened,” she said.

Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale opened to good reviews. However, ahead of the release of the show, Nayanthara was served a legal notice and Rs 10 crore compensation by Dhanush, producer of the film  Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The legal notice was sent as Dhanush didn’t allow to use the footage of the film which appeared as a 3-second clip in the trailer of the show. Nayanthara called out Dhanush in an open letter, shared on Instagram.
