Hyundai Ioniq 9 to Debut in India in January 2025: Hyundai’s flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, will make its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. The model unveiled globally at the 2024 LA Auto Show, is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which is the company’s dedicated EV architecture. This platform is also used by other Hyundai Group models, such as the Kia EV9 and Ioniq 5.

Hyundai’s Largest Electric SUV: Measuring 5,060mm in length, 1,980mm in width, and 1,790mm in height, the Ioniq 9 is Hyundai’s largest electric SUV to date. Its 3,130mm wheelbase ensures a spacious cabin, placing it in the full-size SUV segment and exceeding the Kia EV9 by 45mm in length.

Striking Exterior Features: The Ioniq 9 sports a bold design that includes Hyundai’s Parametric pixel LED headlamps and taillights, seen in its Ioniq series. Additional exterior features include an LED light bar, retractable door handles, and wheel options ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Customers can also choose from 16 exterior colours, enhancing customisation options.

Flexible and Functional Interiors: The cabin of the Ioniq 9 offers a choice of six- or seven-seater configurations. Second-row seats can swivel 180 degrees to face the third row when stationary, providing added flexibility for passengers. The interior also features multiple convenience elements, such as roof-mounted air vents and USB-C ports in all rows.

Cutting-Edge Interior Technology: Key technology features include dual 12-inch curved screens that serve as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Long Driving Range with Fast Charging: The Ioniq 9 is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum WLTP-certified range of up to 620km. The SUV supports 400V and 800V charging infrastructure and can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350kW charger. It also features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system, allowing the car to power other electronic devices.

Performance-Oriented Trims: The Ioniq 9 is available in Long Range and Performance trims. The Long Range variant offers both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options, with the RWD delivering 218hp and the AWD adding a 95hp motor to the front axle. The Performance variant comes with dual motors, producing 218hp on both axles, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds.

Advanced Safety and Driving Features: Safety is prioritised with 10 airbags, an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), and multiple cameras and sensors. The SUV also includes dynamic torque vectoring, lateral wind stability control, and Terrain Traction Control, which uses AI-based Auto Terrain Mode for rough-road capability.

Showcase Without Immediate India Launch Plans: While Hyundai will display the Ioniq 9 as a flagship EV at the Bharat Mobility Show, the model is not expected to go on sale in India anytime soon. Hyundai will also reveal the Creta EV and next-generation Venue compact SUV at the event, catering to a broader segment of Indian consumers.
