iOS 18.2 update enhances Find My feature to recover lost items; here’s how it works

Apple recently rolled out the much-awaited iOS 18.2 update, bringing some exciting features to iPhones. It brings the Apple Intelligence, designed to redefine the user experience of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 line-up. While many are thrilled about the ChatGPT integration with Siri, Genmoji and Visual Intelligence, there’s another feature that’s flown under the radar – a major upgrade to ‘Find My’.

With this update, users can now share the location of their lost items, making it easier to help find them. To do this, open the Find My app, select ‘Share Item Location,’ and generate a link to share with friends or authorities. The best part of the upgrade is that the recipient doesn’t need an Apple device to access the location of the lost item. The generated link will automatically expire after one week or when the item is found.

Additionally, the Find My app now has a ‘Show Contact Info’ option. When enabled, it takes the recipient to a web page displaying the contact information of the owner, such as email address and phone number.

The iOS 18.2 update is available to each device that supports iOS 18, but Apple Intelligence features are exclusive to the iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro line-up. Check out the list of devices that will get the iOS 18.2 update:
