Maharashtra Cabinet expansion: Check full list of ministers announced ahead of Winter Session

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti government announced its cabinet expansion on Friday (December 13), introducing several new faces in key roles. The expansion comes just ahead of the Nagpur winter session of the state legislature, set to begin on Monday, (December 16).

The announcement followed a discussion on Thursday (December 12) between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda, sources revealed.

A total of 19 BJP ministers, 11 from Shiv Sena, and 9 from NCP took their oath of office today. The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in Nagpur, was officiated by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

The ministers gathered in Nagpur on Sunday (December 15) for the oath ceremony where seven new ministers will take oath, with five coming back for another term. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis  received a warm reception from BJP workers and citizens upon arriving in Nagpur, his hometown, to celebrate the Mahayuti’s victory. He also offered flowers to Babasaheb Ambedkar ahead of the expansion of the Cabinet.

The Mahayuti alliance won 235 seats in the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, with BJP as the single-largest party at 132 seats and Shiv Sena and NCP at 57 and 41 seats, respectively. Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister on December 5, while Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar took oath as his deputies
