Maharashtra: CM Devendra Fadnavis pays tribute to Ambedkar in Nagpur ahead of cabinet expansion

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented flowers to Babasaheb Ambedkar in Nagpur on Sunday (December 15). The CM was joined by his wife Amruta Fadnavis and the chief of BJP in Maharashtra Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

He also held a rally in the city, his first one after the Mahayuti alliance won the 2024 legislative assembly elections.

Maharashtra Deputy CM and Nationalist Congress Party chief, Ajit Pawar also reached Nagpur. This comes ahead of the first cabinet meeting of the new government and its expansion.

Shiv Sena MLA Bharatshet Gogawale spoke to ANI, “Oath ceremony will take place at 4 pm today. So, we have all come to Nagpur. Seven people are new (who will take oath as ministers) and 5 are being repeated.”

BJP MLA Girish Mahajan shared that he received a call from state BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule announcing his selection as a minister. He will be sworn in as a minister for the third time.

BJP national secretary Pankaja Munde expressed her excitement about rejoining CM Devendra Fadnavis’s team, thanking PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and JP Nadda for the opportunity.

Despite sweeping the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly polls, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has not yet named its cabinet. This has exposed them to criticism from the opposition. It won 235 seats, with BJP as the single-largest party at 132 seats and Shiv Sena and NCP at 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
