Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani admitted to Delhi’s Apollo hospital

Lal Krishna Advani, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. According to hospital officials, his condition is stable at present but he remains under observation.

As reported by PTI, the veteran leader, aged 96 years, has been placed under the care and authority of Dr Vinit Suri who is a senior-level consultant in the hospital’s department of neurology.

Advani had been admitted to the same hospital previously this year as well. For his current health condition, he was brought to Apollo a couple of days ago. His ailment and the reason for being hospitalised remains unclear.

K Krishna Sagar Rao, Chief Spokesperson for the BJP, expressed his best wishes for the veteran’s recovery in a post on X.

Advani, born in Karachi on November 8, 1927, became a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at age 14. He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, entered the Rajya Sabha in 1970 and was elected the party president, two years later.

During the Janata government’s reign, led by Morarji Desai, he was appointed as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

Advani is famous for making the BJP a major political force in the 1990s, in particular through his staunch advocacy of the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement. He has served as the party’s president thrice and has also served in the roles of home minister and deputy prime minister in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
