“Further to our disclosure dated 6th December 2024 informing that the Company has filed a petition before the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) for recovery of invoices from Maharashtra State Electricity Discom Company Limited (MSEDCL), we wish to inform that today MSEDCL has filed a petition before MERC challenging the invoices raised by the company,” JSW Energy said in a regulatory filing.
This follows the company’s earlier disclosure on December 6, 2024, about its own petition to MERC seeking recovery of dues from MSEDCL. The dispute centres on outstanding invoices issued by JSW Energy to MSEDCL for electricity supplied. While the specifics of the contested amounts remain undisclosed, the matter will now proceed through MERC’s adjudication process.

JSW Energy had approached MERC earlier in December to seek a resolution for recovering the payments due from MSEDCL.
“In respect of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) entered into by the company with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 300 MW power from the Company’s Unit – 1 at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) vide its order dated 22nd July 2024 held that the direction dated 5th May 2022 issued by the Central Government under Section 11 of the Electricity Act, 2003 was not applicable to the Unit – 1,” it said.
“Subsequent to this order, the Company raised invoices as per the tariff agreed under the PPA, however, MSEDCL is paying the invoices as per the tariff determined under the Section 11 direction, causing the Company to file a petition before the MERC for adjudication of the dispute,” it added.
