The deceased, identified as Atul Subhash, was an employee at a private firm. He was found hanging in his home in the Manjunath Layout area under the Marathahalli police station limits, police said.
Subhash’s note detailed years of marital discord, including allegations of false criminal charges such as murder, unnatural sex, and Section 498A (cruelty to a woman by her husband or relatives). He claimed his wife had demanded a ₹3 crore settlement despite his regular payment of ₹40,000 per month. She had also sought ₹2 lakh per month for child support, even though she was reportedly employed at Accenture.
Subhash alleged that his wife’s actions and those of her relatives had pushed him to take the extreme step, writing that the judge handling his case had mocked his plight.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Subhash had been facing marital discord with his wife, and she had registered a case against him in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.
He also emailed his death note to several recipients, including members of an NGO he was associated with, and shared it in a WhatsApp group.
In an emotional letter to his young son, Vyom, Subhash expressed his deep anguish: “When I first saw you, I thought that I could give my life for you any day. But, sadly, I am giving my life because of you. The system has turned you into a tool for extortion. I can sacrifice a hundred sons like you for my father’s dignity.”
Subhash lamented the loss of a meaningful father-son relationship and criticised societal systems that, he believed, alienate fathers from their children.
Subhash’s note delved into broader grievances, criticising what he described as a “rogue” movement of women’s empowerment. He argued that systems meant to uphold equality had been weaponised to exploit men in marriages.
“Some old privileged uncles and aunties might try to make a wife equal to God and a husband a slave to fulfill their so-called progressive agenda,” he wrote.
He called for a reevaluation of societal structures, asserting that unjust systems would inevitably collapse.
Before his death, Subash had also allegedly pasted important details on a cupboard, including information about his death note, vehicle keys, and a list of tasks he had completed and those still pending, the officer said.
According to the police, Subhash hung a placard in his house that read “Justice is due”.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many questioning systemic biases in legal and marital disputes.
One user wrote, “This part of our legal system needs a complete overhaul. So many innocent men and their families are being tortured. Imagine what #AtulSubhash must have been going through during his last moments.”

Another added, “Despite all evidence given by #AtulSubhash, Nisha Singhania has not been dismissed by Accenture, & no case filed by Police. This exposes the ‘value’ of our Judiciary, Legislative, and Corporates. #JusticeForAtulSubhash.”

Another user called marriage a risky affair, and that it is only the luck that decides the future of upcoming generations.
Marriage, today, is a risky affair. Financially, emotionally, physically & psychologically. Your sheer luck in the marriage decides whether your future generation will be better/worse off. It has become a gamble for man & panacea for women. Law is blind, obviously. #AtulSubhash

A senior police officer stated that a case would be registered once Subhash’s family files a formal complaint. “We are conducting a detailed investigation,” the officer said.
