Heart Evangelista opens up on past miscarriages: ‘I was traumatized’

Heart Evangelista couldn’t help but turn emotional as she looked back on her past miscarriages.

During the latest episode of “Heart World,” the Global Fashion Icon opened up about the time that she suffered her first miscarriage.

The pregnancy came three years after she married Senator Chiz Escudero in 2015.

“I would be afraid to have a child when I was young. Kasi I was afraid of the responsibilities. Then when I really wanted to have a child, it only took me two months, and I was pregnant right away. I had twins,” Heart said.

Two months later, the doctors found out that the other baby was slowly disappearing and that she had a Vanishing Twin Syndrome.

“So the Vanishing Twin Syndrome is a complicated one because about 50 to 60 percent ang sabi sa akin ‘yung matitirang bata would be a very special child. Kasi ganoon daw ‘yung usual case, and at that time I didn’t really care basta aalagaan ko ‘yung bata,” she said.

“Then four months into the pregnancy, I was getting the ultrasound and there was no heartbeat.”

After the miscarriage, Heart said that she was traumatized and didn’t want to have a baby for a long time.

“I can say that now without crying kasi tumibay na ang loob ko but it was very traumatizing for me. After that, I didn’t want to have a baby for a long time,” she said.

“Nabaliw-baliw ako ng konti. I was doing fashion week and people thought na I was having a good… I did New York, I did Paris pa nga and akala nila OK lang ako pero may dinadala pa akong bata. I really didn’t wanna be pregnant after that because parang inisip ko, parang mabait naman ako? Bakit ganon?” she added.

According to Heart, it took her time to recover but when she finally wanted to get pregnant, she couldn’t conceive anymore.

“I did the test. Nalaman ko na there’s nothing wrong with me and Chiz but basically my body even when I was like in my 30s, parang ‘yung production ng eggs ko para na akong nasa late ’40s. So konti na lang ‘yung natitirang eggs sa akin,” she said.

Heart said out of the four eggs they harvested, only two were good. One of those two, which is a baby girl, went to a surrogate mother but they eventually lost it again.

“Medyo masakit kasi parang iniisip ko boy and girl ‘yun, last girl ko na ‘yun,” she recalled.

After the miscarriage, Heart and Chiz decided to take a chance on their last remaining embryo which is a boy, but ultimately lost it again a week later

“Nabuo siya, parang mayroon na siyang heartbeat. Then after one week, ayon hindi rin siya nag-ano [survive]. So that one was very hard for me because parang for me that’s my last try,” Heart said.

Heart World” aired its debut episode on October 26. It airs on GMA Network on Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. after “Magpakailanman.”
