“CNBC-TV18 is very lucky for me…my son Rishabh who has been part of the Electric Chetak team for the past 2.5 years told me this morning that based of December VAHAN registration data, our electric scooter Chetak is now the largest selling electric scooter, not third largest, in the country. So, the award could not be better timed.”
As Chetak made it to the top in the first few days of December, Bajaj also took a dig at Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric, saying “Ola toh Ola hai, Chetak shola hai.”
The remark comes as Ola Electric continued to hold the largest EV market share until November though its lead has narrowed with TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto closing in the gap.

Ola Electric led with 27,746 registrations in November, securing a 25.09% market share. TVS was close behind at 23.55% (26,036 registrations) and Bajaj Auto at 22.59% (24,978 registrations) last month.
With Bajaj Auto winning the title of Outstanding Company of the Year at IBLA, Bajaj shared three key milestones that his company has achieved
-We made the transition from being value for money scooters to hi-tech motorcycles. That’s what set us up to become the most valuable two or three wheeler company in the world by market cap three years ago and it has only gone up from there.
-The transition from being a local company from selling everything in the domestic market to becoming a global company that now exports to over 100 countries in the world. That’s why we call ourselves the world’s favourite Indian, and we are proud to represent our country across the globe and at every level of society
-Finally, we are now trying to make the transition from the era of fossil fuels towards the future era of green energy. What started with CNG three wheeler moved on to electric two and three wheelers, and we last launched the world first CNG two wheeler — Bajaj Freedom 125
While accepting the award on behalf of his 10,000-strong team, Bajaj also shared his journey with CNBC-TV18 where he was first interviewed over 20 years ago.
“At some point if I plan to run for Prime Minister, I will tell you (CNBC-TV18) before anyone else,” he joked.
