Kupwara, located in the northern part of Jammu and Kashmir, experiences snowfall primarily between late November and early March, with the peak period being from December to February. The snowfall is most intense during the winter months, especially when Western Disturbances affect the region.

The recent snowfall in Kupwara has resulted in snow accumulation of approximately six feet, particularly in higher altitudes. The massive Western Disturbance (WD) has brought heavy snow to the region, blanketing the region.
