Gnome culture is alive and well at the 2024 Masters. For the last several years the commemorative gnomes — a new design every year, the 2024 edition resplendent in navy blue-and-green checkered pants and a handsome matching cardigan — have been the hottest item in the merchandise building.
People whisper stories about what others are willing to endure to get a chance to purchase a 13-inch figurine, including arriving hours before they let patrons in the door, standing in darkened parking lots.
The question is, are these being bought for personal use or profit? They retail for $49.99 but are already going for well over $300 on Ebay.
I was at the golf shop when its doors opened at 9.30am this morning, and you would have thought people were fast walking to Amen Corner the way they were taking the hard right and snapping up these kindly old man gnomes. I may have been one of them.
