Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick will be starring together for the first time in 20 years.
The couple, who teamed up to support a New York food bank over the holidays, have signed on for the romantic drama Connescence, according to Deadline.
In the script written by The King of Queens creator Michael J. Weithorn, Kevin, 65, will star as Stan Olszewski.
He’s a witty but ‘chronically underachieving security guard,’ who meets 58-year-old Kyra’s Cynthia Rand after he foils an attempted robbery at her home.
Cynthia is a successful urologist married to former Watergate prosecutor Warren Rand, played by Oscar nominee Judd Hirsch, 88.
After their meeting, Stan and Cynthia begin a friendship that kicks off with late night texting, but soon turns into something else entirely.
It was a film that first brought the couple together.
They met on the set of 1988’s Lemon Sky. The film was based on the 1968 play by the same name.
After nine month engagement, the couple tied the knot on September 4, 1988.
The successful Hollywood pair share daughter Sosie, 31, and son Travis, 34.
Sosie is an actress who appeared in Narcos: Mexico.
Kyra and Kevin later appeared together in 2004’s Cavedweller and the 2004 drama The Woodsman.
Since then, Kevin directed Kyra in 2005’s Loverboy, and she directed her husband in 2022’s Space Oddity.
The couple welcomed the opportunity to work together on screen again.
‘We are so excited to work together on screen again for the first time in 20 years in such a funny, moving and original script,’ they said in a statement.
The pair will do double duty on the project as producers.
Brittany O’Grady from The White Lotus is also joining the cast.
Principle photography has already begun on the project, which is set to be shot in a quick 22 days in and around Brooklyn, New York.
