A sprawling California mansion where the HBO series Sharp Objects was filmed will be auctioned next month – and buyers could snap it up for as little as $1.
The 1,745-acre, five-bedroom estate, which was previously sold for $6.5 million, will go under the hammer with no minimum bid on February 3.
It was made famous as a key location for the 2018 thriller Sharp Objects starring Amy Adams as an alcoholic crime reporter who returns to her hometown to investigate the murder of two young girls.
The house, which served as Adams’ character’s childhood home called the Crellin Estate, even had its yellow interiors painted blue just for the filming. Locals acted as extras.

Listing agent Kathy Tang, from real estate firm Compass, told DailyMail.com: ‘Everybody in the neighborhood thought they were going to be a movie star!
‘The house was listed for $8 million back in June but now it is going up for auction. It requires a special kind of buyer because not everybody wants that much land.’
Although Sharp Objects is set in Missouri, the home actually sits in Mendocino County between San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
It boasts expansive views of the surrounding landscape and comes complete with a 4,900-square-foot barn, gazebo, six ponds and seven natural springs.

And some 50-75 acres of the property are primed for wine cultivation, complementing Mendocino’s thriving wine industry.
The current owners bought the property back in 2016 for $6.5 million after its price was slashed from $8 million.
Much of the ranch’s land is contracted under the Williamson Act, also known as the California Land Conservation Act of 1965 meaning it benefits from significantly reduced property tax.
It is now being auctioned by DeCaro auctions International.

The series received great critical acclaim and earnt Adams a Golden Globe nomination for best actress.
It was also nominated for best limited series while star Patricia Clarkson, who played Camille’s mother in the film, won best supporting actress.
