Detroit — Well, that didn’t take long.
Tickets for Sunday’s NFC Championship watch party at Ford Field in Detroit sold out Monday less than 12 hours after going on sale to season-ticket holders and within five hours of being available to the general public.
The Detroit Lions will play the San Francisco 49ers for the right to go to the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Back in Detroit, the lower bowl at the Lions’ home stadium will be packed with screaming fans.
While the firm number of tickets sold is currently unknown, the Lions expect the crowd will easily exceed 20,000 fans.
Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday for Lions Loyal members, Ticketmaster said, and at 3 p.m. on Monday for the general public. Tickets were $20 for the public.
Gates for the event at Ford Field will open at 5 p.m., which is 90 minutes before the 6:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be shown on all video boards and display screens at the stadium.
Tickets will provide access to the 100-level concourse and reserved seating in the lower bowl to watch the game. Fans can also see performances by Detroit Lions Cheerleaders and Roary; and the Detroit Lions Drumline, Honolulu Boom, during the game.
There will be a pregame Power Hour with discounted food and beverage concessions.
