Lenovo is offering a $50 discount on its Lenovo Legion Go PC gaming handheld consoles. The 512GB model is down to $649.99. That’s $50 less than the Legion Go’s closest competitor, the AMD ROG Ally Z1 Extreme which has the same CPU and same amount of storage. Alternatively, you can get the higher capacity 1TB Legion Go model for $699.99.

The Lenovo Legion Go was released on November 1, 2023. This is a Windows 11-based PC gaming handheld console that’s similar to the ASUS ROG Ally. The Levion Go has a more impressive 8.8″ 2560×1600 144Hz IPS touchscreen display. It is a bigger screen with a higher resolution and higher refresh rate. It’s driven by an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor with Radeon graphics and 16GB of RAM, which is the same as the $700 ASUS ROG Ally. Keep in mind that although the Legion Go’s display has a much higher 2560×1600 resolution, most AAA titles will be throttled down to 1280×1800 resolution in order to maintain playable framerates. The end result is that those games on the Legion Go won’t look any sharper than on the ROG Ally.
The Legion Go uses the Windows 11 OS as its platform. It’s compatible with any Windows-based game launcher, including Steam, Battle.net, Xbox Games Pass, Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, and more. That means you get access to more games than you would on the Steam Deckm. Obviously that makes it more attractive to gamers who like to play games that are only available on other clients, like Diablo 4, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Call of Duty, and Forza Horizon 5, and the list goes on. The Steam Deck with its Steam OS is more intuitive, so if ease-of-use is your top priority, the Steam Deck is still the PC handheld to get. However, if you want maximum game selection, then the Legion Go is a strong alternative.
The Legion Go has some other unique features that the older ASUS ROG Ally lacks, like detachable controllers and a significantly longer battery life. Because of the larger display and the bigger battery, the Legion Go is a larger and heavier device than the ASUS ROG Ally. The Legion Go is better suited to opportunities when you’re mired down in one place but away from your main gaming PC, whereas the ROG Ally might be better if you’re constantly on the move.
