Japanese streetwear legend NIGO was appointed as the artistic director of KENZO in 2021 and has revitalized the label with his decades of experience. While the brand just dropped its Year of the Dragon-themed collection for Lunar New Year, it now looks to another powerhouse from Japan —
Each of the three looks combine traditional ASICS branding with a “KENZO” hit at the toe overlay, the left shoe’s tongue tag and the sockliner. With the leading pair, a blue, green and black tiger stripe pattern adorns the base of the upper while red accents the silhouette’s overlays alongside additional bits of blue and green. Supporting the sneaker, its GEL-backed sole unit combines pink, orange and bright blue at the midsole. For its second colorway, the entirety of the shoe has been outfitted in primary and secondary colors, creating a vivid presentation. Lastly, the final pair opts for a less chaotic approach with a gray and white tiger pattern at the base joined by gold accents across the runner.
While neither KENZO nor ASICS have confirmed the release of their collaborative GEL-KAYANO 20 colorways just yet, all three are expected to launch later this month on January 26 via ASICS. Stay tuned for updates, including a complete visual breakdown of each design, as we near its release in the coming weeks.
