In a pretty neat gesture, the NFL Twitter account changed their header to honor the Detroit Lions’ first divisional championship in 30 years.
The Detroit Lions are one of the best feel-good stories of the 2023 season. Having just clinched in their first divisional title since 1993, the Lions are a media darling: a story of a charismatic head coach and a franchise down on its luck rebuilding successfully in the right way.
On Wednesday, the NFL offered a nice gesture to the team to honor their NFC North title: changing the header image of their official Twitter account to a photo of the Lions wide receiver room donned in their division championship “It’s a lock” shirts following their 30-24 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. They also changed their Twitter bio to the following:
“Happy holidays from your 2023 NFC North Champs”

The Detroit Lions are not only a good team, but they’re a marketable team. They are darlings, not deadbeats. And I don’t know about you, but I’m going to enjoy every second of it. It’s going to take some getting used to from the “Detroit vs. Everybody” days, but if this is the new normal, I’m not complaining.
