“We are sad to announce that tonight will be the last night Killen’s TMX will be open at our current location,” read the Facebook post. “We want to thank all of our customers for the support over the years! You can find some of our TMX favorites at our Killen’s BBQ Pearland location.”
It doesn’t seem to be the end of the concept, however, as the Killen’s brand commented within the post that Ronnie and Co. are simply searching for a new restaurant location.

Killen’s TMX opened with much fanfare in 2018. Owner Ronnie Killen, known for his delicious takes on Central Texas BBQ at Pearland and Cypress’ Killen’s Barbecue, and proprietor of multiple other Houston area restaurants (Killen’s Steakhouse in Pearland The Woodlands, Killen’s Burgers in Pearland, Killen’s STQ and Killen’s in Houston), began throwing Tex-Mex staples onto his menus in early 2018 as an appetizer. Then he unveiled Killen’s TMX at 9330 Broadway St. in Pearland, serving a mix of traditional Tex-Mex and inventive smoked-meat-focused Mexican dishes inside a large dining room with cool lighting and a separate bar area.
Since, Killen’s TMX has generated mostly good reviews, though some customers have complained online about affordability and service inconsistency. In other words, in a region where you can find Tex-Mex in every neighborhood, Killen’s version of it is among one of many similar options, but in Pearland it has a devoted core audience. We’ll see if that audience is rewarded with a new location soon.
