Ho-Ho-Holy cow.
After a weekend in which almost every outcome went the Buffalo Bills’ way, the team has a path to clinching a playoff berth before Week 18. Better yet? It’s not very far fetched.
The first step, of course, is for the Bills to defeat the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium. That won’t be easy, however, with the Patriots playing some of their best football of the season. The team has knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos in recent weeks while also hanging with the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo taking care of their business is the first step.
In addition to defeating the Patriots, Buffalo needs two of the following three outcomes to take place.
- Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Cincinnati Bengals
- Seattle Seahawks defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers
- Carolina Panthers defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Chiefs and Seahawks will both be at home and favored in their respective matchups. Kansas City will be fighting for better playoff seeding in the AFC whereas the Seahawks will be looking to keep hold of their Wild Card spot in the NFC. Carolina knocking off the Jaguars is the least likely outcome, but the Jaguars are in the midst of a four game losing streak.
After a Christmas weekend that fared well for Buffalo, the Bills Mafia could ring in the New Year with a playoff berth.
