Fabrizio Fioretti, an artist involved in the production of 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife as part of DNEG Vancouver, has shared several new pieces in his expanding art series, ‘Artworks inspired by the Ghostbusters Universe,’ drawing inspiration not only from the core films but also exploring various aspects of the franchise’s non-canon adventures.
Similar to our previous coverage of Fioretti’s work, placing the Ectomobile on the Manhattan Bridge wrangling multi-tentacle specter, the Ghostbusters are shown once again on call, but this time, recreating the classic The Real Ghostbusters episode “Knock, Knock,” with the prime team coming face-to-face with the Doomsday Door.
Alongside the demonic door, which is likely warning, “Do not open until doomsday,” some creative liberties were taken, including a legion of spectating ghouls and a piece of real-world excavation equipment.
Rounding back to the Ectomobile, Fioretti has given a better look at his interpretation, dubbed the Ecto-1X. Previously shown within the firehouse headquarters, these new glamor shots highlight its various influences, as while the main body pays homage to the original design, Ghostbusters II’s caution striping is easily spotted, while the roof rack takes further influence of the slime-soaked sequel and late ’90s animated series, Extreme Ghostbusters.
Finally, we have a place for the Ecto-1X to park, the Ghostbusters Firehouse. Mostly kept untouched, Fioretti did add his own flair, with caution striping adorning the double doors, alongside a few ectoplasmic threats lurking within the shadows, among them a Terror Dog. We also have to give bonus points for working in the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man advertisement and Ray’s Occult Books.
While we’ll continue to feature additional entries within ‘Artworks inspired by the Ghostbusters Universe,’ we’d recommend following the project through Fioretti’s Instagram or ArtStation page.
