It’s not a good day to be Ryan Day.
Michigan beat Ohio State 30-24.
It was a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine and a horrible Saturday to be associated with the Ohio State program.
For Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, he’s now on the hot seat after losing to Michigan for the third year in a row — it’s a rivalry where the season is considered a success or failure based on the outcome of The Game.
At Day’s postgame presser, it was clear he was distraught and reeling from the loss.
“We’re all disappointed. We know what this game means to so many people,” Day said. “There’s a locker room in there that’s devastated.”
Day was having a hard time processing the loss, he even acknowledged he hasn’t thought much about how the loss impacts Ohio State’s chances of making the College Footbal Playoff.
Day has said in the past that everything Ohio State does is to prepare themselves for the tilt against Michigan. Now it’s yet another year of Michigan having bragging rights, Ohio State fans mad at Day and the fact they didn’t get the job done in Ann Arbor.
“Hard to describe. Just sick of the fact that we came up short in this game,” Day said. “We worked all year for it and we came up short.”
Day is now 1-3 against Michigan and the Wolverines seem to have all the momentum in the world in this rivalry moving forward.
Michigan has a date against Iowa in the Big Ten Championship next Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
