A Vincent Van Gogh art exhibit is officially open in Tulsa at the OKPOP Museum downtown.
It’s the second Van Gogh exhibit that’s opened in Tulsa, in addition to one near 51st and Memorial.
The Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience has made stops all over the world, selling millions of tickets.
This exhibit features over 300 of Van Gogh’s works. However, it presents the artist’s work in ways that you might not see in a traditional museum.
The exhibit utilizes a lot of different technology to try and appeal to a wider audience.
“It’s undeniable that technology like this aims to bridge the 21st century audiences with the 19th century artist. (It’s) different from a museum experience, won’t replace it, nothing like aura of an original. But for a lot of people museums might be intimidating or they might feel that a 19th century artist has nothing to bring to their day to day lives. So an experience like this really works to connect the dots,” Fanny Curtat, Art History Consultant said.
This exhibit runs through February 1 and takes about an hour to fully experience.
