The turmoil in the political sphere this past month is not a sign of weakness, and Lands Minister Filimoni Vosarogo is adamant the Coalition is going to be stronger.
His comments follow continuous criticism from the public that the Coalition seems to be falling apart with the recent Cabinet reshuffle announcement by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
“In every political life cycle, there’s always going to be some teething problems and teething problems are part of growth,” Mr Vosarogo said.
“It’s not part of a sign of weakening. “We all understand that for babies to grow into a young life, they go through some problems in life, so it’s a good thing that this has happened. There are a lot of learning curves from this and I’m sure the Coalition is going to be stronger coming up this week.”
Mr Vosarogo said the PM had also been transparent with the ministers supposedly involved in the pre-announced reshuffle.
“He called us to his office and explained to us what he intends to do and what he is going to do.
“We are quite aware of what he was going to announce.
“I’ve always said from the beginning, I’m a Cabinet man. Whatever responsibility the PM gives me to do, that I will take.”
After the public outcry, the Prime Minister has this week put to rest his reshuffle plans and concluded it was done without legal advice.
He said the reshuffle was put on hold as the Government considered the concerns raised by the Fiji Law Society and sought legal advice.
