GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is available for all families living in Mesa County. Every month, nearly 3,000 families in Mesa County receive support from WIC. In addition to providing financial assistance for purchasing healthy groceries from every food group, WIC also offers nutritional education and breastfeeding support. Marissa, from Mesa County Public Health, recently shared two easy snack ideas that are WIC-approved. These snacks include little pumpkins made with cuties, oranges, and celery, and monster fingers made with peanut butter, bread, and thinly sliced apples. By giving healthy foods fun and silly names, parents can make them more appealing and enjoyable for their children. You can also see if you’re eligible for WIC by visiting health.mesacounty.us.
