Drake has postponed the remainder of his tour dates for this year and said he is taking a break from music as he deals with the “craziest” health problems.
The multi-platinum-selling pop star, who performed at Chase Center in San Francisco in August as part of his It’s All a Blur Tour, told fans on his Sirius XM show “Table for One” on Friday, Oct. 6 that he “probably won’t make music for a little bit.”
Drake, 36, said that after releasing three albums over the past year — including his eighth studio recording, “For All the Dogs” — he needs some downtime to recover from an unspecified illness.
“I’ve been having the craziest problems with my stomach for years,” the four-time Grammy winner said. “I need to get right, I have a lot of other things I would love to focus on so I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit.
“I don’t even know what a little bit is,” Drake added. “Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”
The Canadian rapper-singer — Spotify’s most-streamed artist in the U.S. — has canceled the remaining five dates on his It’s All a Blur Tour — including stops in Denver, New Orleans, Nashville and Columbus. But he still plans on performing in his hometown of Toronto on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7.
He did not specify if he would reschedule the other dates.
“I’m going to be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost,” Drake said.
The It’s All a Blur Tour marks Drake’s first outing since headlining Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour in 2018.
Drake put out two albums in 2022, “Honestly, Nevermind” and “Her Loss,” a collaboration with 21 Savage, the supporting act on the tour.
His eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs,” released on Friday, Oct. 6, includes collaborations with Bad Bunny, SZA, J. Cole, Lil Yachty and Teezo Touchdown.
