VegNews recently released a list of the 25 Best Vegan Mexican Food Spots Across the U.S. — and one Jersey Shore restaurant made the top 20.
Luna Verde in Bradley Beach, which opened in 2018, is known for esquites, a traditional street corn salad made with vegan mayo and cheese; tacos, burritos and chimichangas stuffed with plant-based asada and al pastor fillings; and vegan takes on tres leches cake and flan.
The 25 eateries on the VegNews list were chosen for going “above and beyond bean and rice burritos, supplying hungry eaters with food that is comforting, familiar and ultimately delicious.”
The VegNews story also mentioned how Luna Verde gives back.
“The community-focused eatery also offers a community taco bowl, allowing customers to pay what they can afford, or pay more to feed future customers who may be under more financial strain.”

Luna Verde is owned by the Hildago family (Mahonrry Hidalgo, Eslin Morris and their teen son Marel), whose vegan diets sparked a passion for sharing plant-based Mexican food with their community.
“We are setting the vegan table for everyone to join around the well-known and loved traditional Mexican cuisine,” Morris said. “We are passionate about coming together and sharing vegan food, love and kindness.”
The restaurant is temporarily on a flex schedule, and only doing pick-up and take-out to support Marel’s budding guitar career. See Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
