ANN ARBOR, MI — The Neutral Zone is hosting a free 40th annual juried Potential Art Exhibit on Saturday, April 22.
The art, made entirely by teenaged artists, will remain on display at Neutral Zone’s B-Side venue, 310 E Washington St., until April 29.
The center will kick off the juried show with an opening celebration beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 with refreshments and an artist talk. The evening will also feature performances by teen rock and rap music ensembles at 7 p.m.
This year’s Potential Art Exhibit, the first in-person showcase the center has been able to host in recent years, will be judged by Detroit-based artist Stephen Johnson. Patrons will enjoy visual and performing arts works by teen artists from nine area schools: Ypsilanti Community High School, Lincoln High School, Pioneer High School, Huron High School, Community High School, Skyline High School, Plymouth High School, Dexter High School and Michigan Virtual Charter Academy.
Representatives from Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan’s art schools will be available at the exhibit opening to answer questions about their programs, portfolios and scholarships and financial aid. Advising will also be available from Washtenaw Community College spokespeople.
New this year is a virtual gallery made possible by CultureVerse for those who cannot attend the exhibit in-person. A link to the online gallery will go live on the Neutral Zone’s website, neutral-zone.org, following the exhibit opening.
Those interested in seeing the exhibit outside the opening celebration can do so by scheduling a visit with Neutral Zone art coordinator Trevor Stone at [email protected].
