Amal and George Clooney have arrived at the Venice Film Festival, and oh, was it worth the wait.
The human-rights lawyer made an entrance at the DVF Awards 2023 last night in a fabulous peach-colored vintage Christian Dior gown. It was a lace slipdress with a see-through gauzy train. Amal styled the piece with strappy golden sandals, a golden clutch, and silver drop earrings with light pink teardrop stones at the bottom. For glam, she wore rosy, glowy makeup and a glamorous wavy hairdo.
Next to her, the Academy Award–winning actor looked dapper in an all-black look composed of a fitted suit, matching dress shirt—which he left partly unbuttoned—and shiny dress shoes.
The pair walked into the bash holding hands.
George is one of the few A-list actors attending the 80th Venice International Film Festival, as it comes in the middle of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which has seen actors all over Hollywood cease working as they protest for better benefits and pay. George recently made a donation of at least $1 million to SAG-AFTRA’s emergency financial assistance program in support of the cause.
He is at the festival this year because The Boys in the Boat, a film he directed, will premiere there.
The Clooneys were seen arriving in Venice on Tuesday.
They were pictured walking together into Hotel Cipriani. Amal wore an elegant white shift minidress with a black floral print on the sides, plus mesh slingback pumps by Roger Vivier, a matching black leather shoulder bag, and large lightly tinted black sunglasses.
George looked suave in a laid-back Italian holiday ensemble composed of a navy blue collared shirt, white-and-blue pinstriped trousers, suede loafers in a sandy hue, and reflective shades in an electric blue.
Later that night, the two were seen taking a water taxi to dinner at the cozy Ristorante da Ivo. Amal looked fantastic as ever in a silky emerald-green slipdress by Dundas with a high leg slit. She styled the piece with strappy golden sandals, gold drop earrings, and shimmery golden eye shadow.
George, too, dressed up for the dinner date; the actor looked cool in a sleek black suit and matching crisp dress shirt and shoes.
