According to Sony, the Xperia 5 V measures 154 x 68 x 8.6 mm and weighs under 180 g. Thus, the device is about as large as its predecessor, albeit with a 2 mm shorter but 1 mm wider and 0.4 mm thicker housing. Predictably, Sony has moved the Xperia 5 series onto Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform that it complements with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage globally.
Other elements remain unchanged though, such as the 6.1-inch OLED display, which remains a 1080p and 21:9 panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Likewise, the Xperia 5 V carries over its predecessor’s 3.5 mm jack, as well as its front-firing stereo speakers and 5,000 mAh battery that supports 30 W wired charging. So far, Sony has confirmed that the Xperia 5 V will retail for €999 in three launch colours. A release date remains unknown at the time of publication.
