Asking $7.9 million, 13367 Campus Drive in the Oakland Hills is a 9,220-square-foot mansion with plenty of high-end amenities and sports celebrity cache. This home was custom-built for legendary NBA player and coach Brian Shaw and his wife, chef Nikki Shaw.
Inside the mansion are many of the hallmarks you’d expect from a celebrity couple’s home: The five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms are well appointed, particularly the lavish primary suite with its private balcony, walk-in closet and fireplace. Less usual are the video game room, built-in fish tanks, indoor swimming pool and spa.

These offerings don’t stop inside the mansion itself. Outside, the 3-acre property offers an outdoor kitchen, koi ponds, a six-car garage and a basketball court.
The home’s design reflects the lifestyle of its sellers, said listing agent Peter Monroe of Coldwell Banker Realty. “Brian was influenced by Italian architecture during his stint playing basketball in Rome and incorporated some of those elements into this property,” Monroe said in an email.

Brian’s stint in Rome was followed by a long NBA career, playing for the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trailblazers and Los Angeles Lakers (winning three NBA championships with that team). He is now an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Nikki also had an influence on the design of the home. For once, the words “chef’s kitchen” actually ring true here, and the upscale, modern kitchen is a testament to her career and passion for food. A chef with a love of entertaining, Nikki “sketched out her vision of an open-concept layout of the house so that they could maximize the Bay views while entertaining guests,” Monroe said.

The views, visible from almost every room in the house — and at their most dramatic from the large decks and patios — are part of what drew the couple to Ridgemont Hills in the first place. “As a child, Brian would drive by the Ridgemont area with his mother every day on the way to school and dreamed of one day living in the neighborhood,” Monroe said. “He eventually made this dream a reality when he purchased two lots on the street — one for his current house and one for his parents a few doors down the road,” with the former being the house for sale now.
The Shaws have lived in this hilltop mansion since 2003, three years after Brian and fellow Oakland natives Jason Kidd and Gary Payton each received a key to the city of Oakland. This is the first time the property has been listed on the open market.
