Search on for fugitive radical preacher and Khalistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh; key aide Papalpreet Singh arrested
While talking to media persons in Amritsar, deputy inspector general (DIG), Border Range, Narender Bhargav said Joga Singh was arrested from Sirhind in a joint operation carried out by Amritsar, rural, and Hoshipur police.
The DIG said that police had information about his hideouts in Haryana and as soon as he left his hideout, police arrested him.
“Our police teams were present in the region and as they got an input about Joga Singh, they laid a trap and apprehended him,” Bhargav said.
He said an FIR was registered against Joga Singh in Hoshiarpur on March 28 under sections 212, 279, 120 B and the Arms Act.
He said that Joga Singh was absconding since February 18 and was also in touch with Amritpal prior to fleeing. Since March 28, Joga separated from Amritpal and Papalpreet.
Joga Singh son of Rattan Singh originally hailed from the Ludhiana district but was currently living in a ‘dera’ in Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.
After the arrest of Papalpreet, Joga’s arrest is seen as a major achievement of the police.
Satinder said that Joga had brought Amritpal back to Punjab from Uttar Pradesh adding that on March 27 both Joga and Amritpal were together.
