Like it or not, Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton debut is a hit.
It’s been almost two weeks since Pharrell Williams presented his first Louis Vuitton menswear collection since taking the throne as the newest creative director — and quite frankly, it’s doing numbers.
Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2024 presentation itself earned over 15 million views on YouTube, while the brand’s other platforms also secured record-breaking numbers.
After all, Skateboard P brought out a star-studded crowd filled with everyone’s faves, from campaign star Rihanna and A$AP Rocky to Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
I mean, when was the last time Beyoncé attended a fashion show? If our memory proves us correct, Kanye “Ye” West’s 2015 YEEZY x adidas fashion show.
On top of a Grammys-level audience, the show had a stellar soundtrack — no surprises there, with the award-winning musician now leading the grande-scale affair.
That wonderful “JOY (Unspeakable)” song is now available on streaming platforms. Just an FYI.
Even with the show over and months before the collection sees the light of day, the aftermaths of Pharrell’s LV debut still linger.
With that yellow $1-million Louis Vuitton bag accompanying Pharrell as his plus-one to Paris Fashion Week shows, it’s hard not to talk about the collection, which was huge, by the way.
Social media fashion accounts continue to post gentle reminders of the collection and its overlooked details. At the same, celebs slash close friends of Mr. Williams are giving the clothes proper off-runway debuts.
Lil Uzi Vert wore pieces to the 2023 BET Awards. On his road to Utopia, Travis Scott sported that leather polo on fans’ wishlists. Even A$AP Rocky wore the collection while seemingly filming a music video for his anticipated album, Don’t Be Dumb.
