‘The Masked Singer’ reveals Lizard as Sisqo with ‘Thong Song’ performance

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Masked Singer, season 11, episode 5, “Group C Finals: Shower Anthems Night.”

Rub-a-dub-dub. It’s Shower Anthem Night on The Masked Singer, and all three returning season 11 contestants came ready to scrub the competition.

Host Nick Cannon was appropriately underdressed for Wednesday’s bathing theme, going completely shirtless under his suit jacket. Thankfully, all four panelists — Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Rita Ora — had time to get fully clothed.

The Group C singers kicked things off with a performance of Becky G’s ” Shower” as bubbles filled the stage. Then Cannon announced that there would be a double elimination, first with the lowest vote-getter being immediately ousted, then the remaining two duking it out for a spot in the upcoming quarterfinals. Though, he reminded the judges they’d still have the chance to ring the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell to save one contestant from elimination this season.

During the main competition, Clock sang “Respect,” by Aretha Franklin; Lizard surprised everyone by taking on Evanescence’s nu-metal hit “Bring Me to Life”; and Poodle Moth performed “The House That Built Me,” by Miranda Lambert.

Given the double elimination, the lowest scoring singer of the night was eliminated with no chance to redeem themself in a battle round, and unfortunately Lizard’s big swing in his song choice did not pay off for him, so he was declared first out.

The panelists made their final guesses before the unmasking. McCarthy-Wahlberg switched hers from D’Angelo to Ray J, and Jeong went with Michael Bivens, of Bell Biv DeVoe, which none of the panel agreed with and even caused Lizard himself to collapse on stage. Thicke said he and Ora had been on the same page about their guess for a while, with Ora excitedly declaring they thought it was Sisqo, after previously saying if it was, then her whole trip to the United States would have been worth it to meet him.

Luckily for Ora, her journey stateside was not a waste and, for the first time this season, the panel was finally able to guess correctly — Lizard was revealed as Sisqo, the “Thong Song” and “Incomplete” chart-topper and former Dru Hill member. He revealed that he did the show because his family loves watching it and he’s been guessed in previous seasons.

Ora completely fangirled out as the now-unmasked Sisqo delivered one final song, s-song, song, song for the crowd. In a departure from eliminated contestants typically performing the same song from earlier in the episode, he instead delighted fans by singing his 2000 hit ode to the cheek-revealing garment.

Next up, Clock and Poodle Moth went mask-to-mask in the Battle Royale, each taking on “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Both songs were flawless, but Clock was ultimately declared the night’s winner, meaning Poodle Moth would have to unmask once the panelists made their final guesses.

After an earlier clue that Poodle Moth has a special connection to Thicke’s dad, the late Growing Pains star Alan Thicke, the “Blurred Lines” singer was convinced she was Shania Twain, whom his pops once housed when she first moved to Los Angeles from Canada to pursue a record deal. McCarthy-Wahlberg thought it was This Is Us star Mandy Moore, while Jeong guessed Brooke Shields, and Ora went with Sharon Stone, whom Thicke revealed was the “honorary best woman” at his dad’s wedding.

However, we still don’t know if any of them were correct, as Ora gave in to the studio audience chanting “ding dong” and ran over to ring the bell just in the nick of time, saving Poodle Moth. She and Clock will both compete in the upcoming quarterfinals.

Group A will return next week for Transformers Night, whatever that will entail.

Watch Sisqo’s reveal above. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
