One-on-one interview with U.S. education & labor secretaries on FAFSA snafu, unemployment

News 4-Fox 11’s Ben Margiott sat down with U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su to discuss a number of topics including the FAFSA hiccups, the unemployment rate, minimum wage and much more.

The two Biden cabinet members are in Nevada to stress the importance of good jobs and the need for high-quality and affordable pathways into teaching to address the shortages of educators across the United States.

In a release sent Tuesday, the departments said they will announce efforts to expand pathways into teaching while increasing pay and strengthening working conditions for those in early childhood education, K-12 and higher ed.

On Wednesday, the duo will spend time in Reno to speak with elected state officials, labor leaders and school district staff with the Washoe County School District.

They will head to Las Vegas on Thursday to meet with Nevada’s congressional leaders and tour a local elementary school.
