Chicago officially closed the book on the Justin Fields era when they traded him to the Steelers. Now, they’re all but guaranteed to select a QB at No. 1. And in what will come as a shock to no one, the Bears select quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in this mock draft.
Williams was always the choice, and now that Justin Fields is a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, we can write this one in pen.
Chicago has spent extensive time with Williams during the pre-draft process, most recently ahead of his pro day in Los Angeles. They’ll also get a chance to host him at Halas Hall for a Top 30 visit, where Matt Eberflus said will focus more on install (aka, getting Williams a head start learning the Bears offense). At this point, Chicago should just submit their draft card.
